A Valentine's Affair: Vino, Pasta, Cioccolato

Vino, Pasta, Ciccolato…

Translated as wine, pasta, and chocolate, Italians picture these food groups simultaneously tied together. Italians have not simply a relationship with their food, but an inextricable bond, traced back to when Italy started to develop its “gastronomy” as opposed to an already established set of “nutrition” habits. The traditional Italian meal consists of a five course sequence of “antipasto-primo-secondo-contorno-dessert," translated as appetizers, first entree, second entree, third entree, and of course dessert. The recipes vary from homemade bruschetta baked with fresh diced tomatoes, basil, and garlic, to chicken marsala cooked in Marsala wine and mushrooms, and to top it off with a decadent treat of chocolate torte or cannoli baked to perfection with an assortment of italian grown"ciccolato" flavors. Add a bottle of “Barbera” wine, the most widely grown red wine grape of Italy, to the table and you have yourself a fully-enhanced Italian meal. Love embodies the whole table while taking part in a freshly prepared meal accompanied by friends and family. This may be due to pure happiness taking place at the time or otherwise a cause of the aphrodisiac ingredients- having the ability to fire up passion and desire in whoever consumes them. It’s no wonder the Italian’s are the most passionate lovers. Gathering these facts and trivials, I know where I’m going to take that special someone for Valentine’s Day…
